The challenge to understand the maquiladora dynamics materialized in the companies installed in Pedro Juan Caballero (PJC) demanded to search some theoretical outlines able to explain the new global industrial dynamics, as well as analyzing the assumptions of the Maquila Law. From a methodological point of view, the theoretical framework corresponded to the conceptual approaches offered by geography (especially in its economic and political aspects) and by sociology. Empirical research was based on the collection of secondary and primary data. The Maquiladora Companies installed in this border territory are an expression of the regional division of labor with characteristics of peripheral industrialization based on advantageous production resources such as cheap labor, tax incentives under the Maquila Law, water and electricity. What could it be an opportunity to industrialize, it ends up being another form of survival for the local and global mechanism, organizing itself according to external business requirements.
